An initial evaluation is an important first step in determining whether occupational therapy is the right fit for your child and family. Our evaluations are comprehensive and individualized, lasting between 60 to 120 minutes, and are conducted in your child’s natural environment to ensure the most accurate understanding of their needs. We incorporate clinical observations, caregiver interviews, and standardized assessments to develop meaningful, personalized goals that support your child’s development and align with your family’s priorities.
Evaluations
Individualized occupational therapy sessions are provided in the child’s natural environment—such as the home, daycare, or community setting—to promote development and functional independence in meaningful, everyday contexts. Each session is carefully tailored to address the specific areas of need identified during the initial evaluation. Therapists bring purposeful activities and therapeutic materials designed to support progress toward the child’s individualized goals. These may include improving fine motor coordination (e.g., handwriting, cutting, buttoning), enhancing sensory processing and regulation, developing gross motor skills and postural control, increasing independence with self-care routines (e.g., dressing, feeding, toileting), and fostering age-appropriate play, attention, and social interaction skills. All interventions are goal-oriented and family-centered, ensuring alignment with each child’s unique strengths and challenges

FAQs
-
Pediatric Occupational Therapy focuses on helping children develop, improve and maintain skills needed for:
daily living (i.e.feeding, dressing, toileting, sleep)
school (i.e. peer relations, attention, handwriting, organization, fine motor)
play (the most important occupation of a child!)
At Annie’s Pediatric Occupational Therapy Group, we use the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework (OTPF) to guide the way we support your child’s development. The OTPF is a professional model used by occupational therapists across the country to understand the whole child—not just their challenges, but their strengths, environment, routines, and goals.
What Does That Mean for Your Child?
We look at how your child participates in everyday activities, like:
Playing with peers
Getting dressed and ready for the day
Eating meals with family
Using school tools like pencils and scissors
Following routines at home or daycare
Handling big feelings and staying focused
Our goal is to help your child be as independent, confident, and comfortable as possible in these daily activities—what we call “occupations.”
At Annie’s Pediatric Occupational Therapy Group we use everyday activities and play-based approaches to help children achieve their goals!
